Competitive Cheerleading Research Paper

Decent Essays
I feel really passionate about competitive cheerleading. Every day I think about going to WORLDS and competing against some of the best cheerleaders in the world with my team.
So in order to achieve this dream or goal, I have to push myself to my limits and reach up to my best abilities. However, I will definitely encounter some big struggles. Like face planting a mat (been there, and done that), dropping a flyer from 6 to 7 feet in the air ( I've also done that), or even running, doing bear crawls, push ups, burpees, planks, star jumps, until you are either puking or fall to floor crying ( I had to do that as well).
It is really tough but it will make you a better person in the end because you are fit, and you take responsibility for yourself.

Many people didn’t consider the thing I love the most, the thing that drives and pushes me to be the best in life, and the thing that many people live for not a sport. The thing frustrating me the most is when people think Allstar Cheerleading is not a sport and they are usually the ones that don’t understand what it takes to be an Allstar Cheerleader and why it is in fact a sport. As the advancement in Cheerleading came full force into the world, during the early 1980s, there were many Cheerleading squads that were not associated with their school programs. These squads main focus and objective was the competition side of Cheerleading.…

As my second level 1 Fieldwork, I chose to volunteer for the Raleigh County Special Olympics Cheerleading team. There were four cheerleaders whose deficits ranged from Down syndrome, psychological, speech, low muscle tone, also across the autism spectrum. In which, Cheerleading enhances the following: attention span, comprehension, organization, sequencing, increased endurance, postural control, and increases social skills. Over a course of a month we gathered to participate in the learning of cheers and a competition dance. The support the athlete’s family had showed during practices and competition was influential to not only their child or family member but to me, as a volunteer and as an Occupational Therapy Assistant Student.…

Throughout my high school cheerleading career, I have had five different coaches. I have classified them into The Mom, The BFF, The Nazi, The Babysitter, The Crazy One, and The Ideal Coach. Each one made a distinct impact on cheer at TCPS in their own way, positive or negative, because of their actions and attitudes. Each category is specially designed for each coach I’ve had and their demeanor towards the cheerleading squad.…

Throughout the summer I decided that I wanted to spend most of my time volunteering at youth cheerleading camps. Not only did I get the chance to interact with younger girls and set a good role model, but I also got the chance to work with other girls my age who have talent and loves cheerleading just as much as I do! The two camps I was a part of was the Danny Lansanah Football/Cheerleading Camp and the Packers & Broncos Cheerleading Camp. Both camps were located at John Harris High School for ages 5-14 and were free with food provided. During both camps my job was to focus on the basic skills you need to learn to become a cheerleader and also make up a routine to teach the girls.…

I plan on being a cheer coach as we all know, since I have talked about it in class for a couple of weeks every time we have been in class. I have worked at a competitive cheer gym as a cheer coach staff member and started the job in June and ended in the first week of August 2021 it was just a summer job that I enjoyed doing and learning different roles and ways of helping kids get different skills and teaching them different ways to fix their skills as well. Also learned that all kids learn in different ways from other kids, do you have some kids that are visual learners, others that get it when you explain to them what they are doing, and others are quick learners? From learning from my mother being a middle school cheer coach and a high school cheer coach, I learned that as a coach you must have a schedule for the cheerleaders for everything planned out the whole year.…
