Who cares how a jaguar feels”(Connell 3)? Although Whitney, as said in the quote, is a big-game hunter, he has a discussion with Rainsford and says that animals do have feelings, more specifically the fear of death. In this quote Whitney is showing his empathy for living creatures , even though Rainsford is trying to tell him that he is a hunter who hunts big and difficult animals so why does he care how an animal feels. “It’s our problem because it’s our town. We built it with our hands, from nothing . . . And if we want to keep it decent, keep it growing, then we got to think mighty clear here today— and we got to have the courage to do the right thing, no matter how hard it is,”( Foreman 315).
