In chapter three, Graff and Birkenstein's, focus is to show your own arguments, but also giving others arguments by using appropriate quotations. I agree that it can be can be difficult to chose relevant quotations for your writing because they sometimes can change your main points and make the audience confused. Also, as you edit and develop your paper it can change, making quotations used not relevant. Purdue Online Writing Lab agrees writing (2010), "Using the words of others can be tricky business." On the one hand quotations can enhance your paper, but they must be used correctly. On the other hand Graff and Birkenstein explains that you should simply frame each quotation with an introduction, follow up, and explanation. It's often said,
