God likes to inform God’s people the plans of destruction and blessing, alike. Destruction of Sodom and Gomorah and blessing Sarah with a child at the age of ninety, are few examples. The Sodom and Gomorajh narrative can be exemplary of God’s anger and mercy at the same time. Also, it is indicative of God being all powerful.…

Deception is used by both gods and humans to accomplish their goals, whether that be a sinister or positive goal. Though human’s use of deception has created noteworthy Greek myths, the god’s use of deception is more prevalent and relevant in Ancient Greek culture. When examining three examples of god’s deceptive actions, Aphrodite’s, Athena’s, and Prometheus’s, the role for which the gods use deception becomes more clear. These three myths are examples that emphasize how gods usually have similar intentions, employ a heightened sense of deception, and encounter the power of Zeus when enacting the various forms of deception. To begin, Hymn to Aphrodite, specifically lines 45-290 in The Homeric Hymns shows not only Aphrodite’s deception to Anchises but Zeus’s power to deceive Aphrodite with her own influence.…

He is no longer in charge of creation, and King includes God to mock the Christian belief that there is only one god and he has all of the power. The narrator refers to him as “that backward GOD” (King 40) to hint that he is not welcome by the others. God’s idea of creation differs from the creators’ in this story, and his inability to accept their story mocks the way Christians react to those of other religions.…
In Malachi 1:1 it says “The oracle of the word of The Lord to Israel through Malachi”. Which meaning that the prophet Malachi wrote the book of Malachi and the words came from The Lord himself. The book of Malachi was written between 569 and 440 BC. Malachi is the last book in the Old Testament and was meant to show people how far away from God they really are.…
Fear specifically is defined as an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. Throughout the history of man, fear has remarkably had a prominent effect on the actions of many: used by dictators as a tactic to control, used in politics and religion to manipulate people’s positions. Fear materializes to the world in many forms; basic fears akin to those of spiders or heights, to more complex fears that are deep-rooted, like the fear of rejection or disappointment. Fear is an extensive part of life that has held a grip on people for many centuries in the past, and will for the many centuries to go. Identical to politics, entertainment platforms have manipulated fear to captivate…
Numbers 25 speaks about the acts in which Cannon were performing while they were at camp. These acts in which the Canaanites were performing persuaded some Israelites to turn away from the true and living God to Baal worshipping to. With the acts in which the Israelites were carrying on with, made God very angered to where God sent a command out to Moses that those who were worshipping Baal or known as Baal of Peor be immediately put to death. Balaam had already had caused great affliction upon the divided kingdoms for he placed sorcery upon the divided kingdoms where the sin was already committed. Sins of prostitution, greed, and idol.…
Comparison of Polytheism and Monotheism of Different Groups Religion is a cultural system that designates world views and beliefs, as well as behaviors. Fiery Furnace DBQ In Daniel 3, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego demonstrate that they trust in God when they did not bow down to the Idol. The guard declared, “ Attention everyone, every race, color, and creed, listen! When the trumpets blow you will bow down to Nebuchadnezzar’s statue. Whoever doesn't will be thrown into the fiery furnace (Daniel 3:4-6)”.…
Introduction: “Now concerning the matters about which you wrote: ‘It is well for a man not to touch a woman.’” This is according to the Apostle Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians. Although Saint Paul goes on to say that it is better for one to be married to avoid sexual immorality, historians widely believe that his sexual ethics, especially in relation to virginity, played a significant role in the lives of Christians, especially young women, throughout the early Church. The Acts of Paul, an apocryphal text according to Saint Jerome, written between 185-195 C.E. relates an expanded treatise of Paul’s understanding of the necessity, or lack thereof, for identifiable sexuality within human life and marriage. Expounded upon further…
Instead of using a personal experience, I want to write this chapter using a story directly from the Bible. In the sixteenth chapter of the book of Acts, we find two men imprisoned for their faith, yet praising God in the middle of the night. During their praises, the plot thickens: Acts 16:25-26 (ESV), “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened.” Imagine the variety of looks on the prisoner’s faces during the night.…
Spiritual formation can be an overwhelming process. As the Lord begins to mold us and shape us into His image, the process takes us out of our comfort zone, and pushes us to live by blind faith. It is a process that brings forth a lot of tears, frustration, pruning, and sadness. The process can be extreme, but it births true happiness, joy, servanthood, and the authentic person we were created to be. This paper will discuss reconciliation, transformation process, spiritual formation in the biblical times, as well as modern times.…
