Watching the short film and reading the story are completely different in their sequence of events, both have some similarities but mostly different. The story being the more confusing one because it starts explaining the ending to beginning as for the movie it shows you beginning to end which obviously makes it easier to understand the order. In both the story and the short film there are some similarities. Beginning with the short film, you see the end, Emily is dead at the morgue being drained, and the story goes on to how it all started, Emily and her father known as the Grierson family placed themselves too highly, and Emily’s father thought no young man is good enough for his daughter. As for the story, in the beginning we also know Emily has died and the writer begins …show more content…
The ending of the film is how the story begins with the all the people in town attending her funeral, and once it was over ladies demanded to see the locked room. The final scene and chapter of “A Rose for Emily,” both end in finding out that behind the doors of the locked room there had been dust collecting in every corner for the past forty years, there the women find a long strand of gray hair next to Homer Barron’s skeleton that could only suspect that Emily had poisoned Barron and for all those years she had been sleeping next to him. The plotting of the story causes interest and suspense because you realize the story is being told differently, things aren’t being told in order and so you are intrigued to find out how the story came to its end. The film created interest just like the story because you are constantly left on your edge wanting to know what happens next with Emily but the difference is that it does explain the story in a way you
