The two methods used to schedule appointments are manually using an appointment book, or electronically using a computer. Scheduling appointments manually are available for a single day or pages that display a week when open. The appointment book format is chosen to meet the needs of the practice. Appointment book is usually done in pencil so that the information can be changed if needed.

Electronically using a computer scheduling allows appointment intervals. The appointment intervals can be adjusted to the needs of the practice. A recall system identifies patients that need to be contacted when it’s time for them to schedule another appointment.
