Elie Wiesel and Jaques Matzner shared similar characteristics and experience in the concentration camps. They are both male and sadly the only ones to survive the Holocaust in their family. When Elie was being transported into Auschwitz he had to ride in some sort of trains which is similar to Jaques because he too had to ride a train to Auschwitz. The trains contained many people and were typically packed. There would also be casualties within the trains because people would be crushed to death or die from terrible weather conditions. The first camp they both went to for selection was Auschwitz and were then later transported into a nearby concentration camp but they weren’t the same as each others. The guard that they would get would be SS …show more content…
Elie would remain in ghettos and then sent into the concentration camps while Jaques spent time with his family normally, travel to France alone and spend time in a refugee camp there, then captured by SS and sent to Auschwitz. Elie was with his whole family most of the time before being split up in the selection process. He was still was with his father most of the time in the camps. Jaques spent time with his family but would then leave alone to France leaving him all alone most of the time during the time in the concentration camps because his family was captured before him. Elie’s family would consist of his mom, dad, and three sisters. Elie says, “There were four of us children” (4). Jaques’ family was his mom, dad, two sister with there two kids. After the train ride Elie says they had to wait in the cold in whatever position they wanted while Jaques says almost the same thing but instead the prisoners had to be on the knees in which there butts had to be touching their heels. Matzner states the following, “ [T]he knees are bent in a manner that the buttocks almost touching our heels” (1). Apparently the reason they had to do that was for the guards’ safety. Also Jaques added an extra detail about the guards in which every guard has one dog with them, mostly a German Shepherd. Jaques was called into office by one of the commanders because Jaques was German so the commander gave him a more easier job …show more content…
The most important part would be family because half my life I’ve been living with them. My parents have been supporting me for a long time and they still currently are. My sibling have always been with me everywhere most of the time. Although they sometimes get on my nerves we still all get along and play around. My parents won’t be around my whole entire life because that’s just how life is. So being with my parents a lot and thanking them for all they’ve done. Since I’m the oldest waiting to see what my younger siblings would become in the future would be exciting. My friends and I just having fun is great. Going to places and just hanging out acting like fools is fun. Always wasting our time on video games instead of doing homework makes is even better. Then my future is what we’re all waiting for. Just wondering what I’ll become in the future and if I would have a family makes life worth living because you don’t know what awaits

“One more stab to the heart, one more reason to hate. One less reason to live.(109)” Throughout Night by Elie Wiesel, Nazis show time and time again how relentless they will be with their physical and emotional abuse towards prisoners in concentration camps. Through understanding the ways Nazis dehumanize Jews and other minorities, we can see three very important steps to bringing them back into normal life: Non physically abusive treatment, giving them goals, friends, a reason to live, and a non-fluctuant lifestyle, and providing former prisoners with more diverse lifestyle choices.
