Nowadays, it always seems like every other commercial is addressing the next big problem America needs to be aware of. Americans like to avoid the topic because it is very sensitive to some individuals. But obesity is a life threatening disease which includes heart disease. As a parent they can control a their child's food intake, they are responsible for promoting an early threat to a child's life. But not only is a child's physical health diminished by obesity, but their mental health is at risk too. The whole US is finding itself in a ¨obesity epidemic¨. Obesity epidemic is the growing number of people globally who are overweight or obese. They often have accompanying medical illness such as chronic disease and disability. Well it is true, it is called a community garden. A community meaning people living in the same place or having a characteristic in common. To define a community garden it would mean to have access to fresh produce, vegetables, and nutritionally rich foods in low-income neighborhoods or towns. People who tend to garden eat more healthier because it is right there and it is fresh, there is a better percentage of the person being overall more healthier. A community garden is supposed to decrease the barriers with availability and acceptance within food. Not only does a community garden help the people around but it helps the environment and the economy. It can benefit local governments. When a community grows food locally it reduces the greenhouse gas emissions which is related to transportation of food. The food you eat on your fork at your house travels an average 1300 miles from the farm to your city or town. But with a community garden it can reduce this complication. It also reduces transit time it takes to get to the consumer. To put into words of what a community garden actually is that it enables families in low-income neighborhoods that do not have land their own to give them the opportunity to produce food. Additionally, it supplies the chance for gardeners to contribute their knowledge and skills to the people in the community. Locally grown food saves a remarkable amount of money for the produce. Community gardens also include exercise which is crazy to imagine. Gardening increases in the frequency of physical activity. It increases in reduced body fat, weight loss, flexibility, and in divine energy. Without of even thinking of participating in physical activity you can do so while growing healthy food that will also help with reducing your weight. So all around this is a great idea that a lot of cities or neighborhoods should invest
