Within [line 36] I indirectly tell Alana that I’m not confident with the way that I look when I state “I like feeling like hot” [line 36]. In doing so, I elicit a personal connection to Alana by matching the sadness she showed in [line 33]. Between [lines 36-38] my accommodation of Alana’s feminine style of communication becomes clear when I begin to use tag questions in order to prevent the potential backlash from my reasoning. Within the communication of my reasoning I often mumble “dont you?” [lines 36-38]. Illustrating tag questions, a common feminine communication strategies used to elicit further conversation on a topic. Thus, diminishing the potential backlash from an interlocutors disagreement. In doing so, I exemplify Wood’s (2007) fourth feature of feminine communication style by engaging in conversational maintenance work. Within the entire segment of convergence it is clear that the purpose of the dialogue is to win the argument. When Alana asked in [line 33] “you love all those girls grabbing you?” a convergence communication strategy was subconsciously applied in order to provide reasoning behind the original comments of [lines 19-29]. In doing so, it is evident that although my communication has taken the form of a feminine style it with the intention to achieve my masculine communicative goals. By asking her if she likes the attention, I am able to maintain a dominant status as I am controlling the conversation whilst exemplifying that it is not a negative act to appreciate
