Everlast is the most reputable boxing gear company in the world. The company, started in 1910 as a swimwear manufacturer, has bloomed to the brand so popular it as no other major competitors than its previous year’s work. However, due to its expanding empire and the push back against boxing because of the recent string of abusive athletes, Everlast needed to make new a commercial that appealed to a broad range of audiences and put faith back into the morality of boxing. Boxers have a code of conduct on how to live life just as yoga or karate does. Throughout the commercial, Everlast uses this code of conduct and the morals embedded in boxing to capture the attention of fighters veiwing their commercial. Everlast's ending line “Boxing makes you bigger” has multiple levels of meaning. Through training boxing makes you physically bigger, however the real meaning behind Everlast’s tagline is that boxing builds morals and character, aspects boxers take pride in. As a child one is constantly told to “be the bigger person”. The commercial is communicating to its audience that boxing does make you “the bigger person”. The boxer demonstrates this through his actions towards the hungry boy that wants his money. The boxer can easily beat him up, but instead he releases his fists. He chooses to follow the code amongst boxers that fighting never leaves the gym. Through boxing, the boy becomes a bigger person and has the ability to understand the hungry boy. The company has been around for 106 years proving it to be, humorously, everlasting. Due to its longevity, the brand Everlast has become synonymous with boxing itself. Therefore if “boxing makes you bigger”, “ Everlast makes you bigger” as well. The commercial shows the audience that the boy and his little brother live and train in poor conditions. However, all of the products in their gym are Everlast products. This shows the viewer that even though these boys live in a community where everything is falling apart, Everlast products remain durable and trustworthy no matter the environment. As the commercial suggests, Everlast seems to be timeless. This is backed up by Everlasts longstanding relationships with boxers throughout all ages, from Jack Dempsy to Muhammad Ali to Ronda Rousey.
