Strecker took 50 people and asked them the question, "Would you rather go to a college football game or a pro football game?" The results he got were 41 out of 50 said they would rather go to a college football game (Strecker). That's 82 percent of the people answering the question wanting to go to a college game rather than a pro (Strecker). Yes, this is people's opinions, but the answer of his question is an opinion to begin with. Again, Strecker's test demonstrates college football’s popularity over pro football. Laken Litman did a poll on USA Today Sports with over 18,000 voters. The question asked, "Is college football better than the NFL?" The results she got were that 85 percent of the voters said "Yes" to the question (Litman). That is 15,014 out of 18,002 voters saying that college football is better than pro football. In college football, every team has a rival or rivals. The teams play each other every year, creating an annual rivalry. There are so many great rivalries that college football has, but a great rivalry is Alabama and Auburn. The game is called the Iron Bowl, and every year it is a fierce, intense game. The game always creates a lot of excitement, making the game that much bigger. Another rivalry college football has, is the Lehigh vs. Lafayette game. The two teams have met in football 151 times (Cwienkala). That is the most times two teams have met in all of football (Cwienkala). The first game was played all the way back in 1884 (Cwienkala)! When one goes to this rivalry, they are witnessing history. No other football league has that kind of history in football. Rivalries are a big tradition in college football, but another big tradition is the mascot. The mascot is part of a team's name. The mascot is in the history of every college team. College football has incredible mascot traditions. A great thing that most college teams have is a live mascot at the games. One mascot tradition at Auburn can not be beaten by any team. Before the kickoff of every game in Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium, Auburn fans chant "Waaaaar" as a live eagle circles around the field, and when it lands in the center of the field, fans yell, "Eagle!"
