During a crucial year of high school, junior year, I fought fiercefully to obtain higher grades, even when I had to get a job to help my family. I spent late nights studying, finishing up homework, reading for lectures, willing to do what had to be done. While this could have intimidated me, it is not a characteristic I possess. I will not waver to struggles, neither to the prospect of failure, even though just like many others, I too have fallen in my battle. However, I recover and stand taller every time. I have overcome adversity using my strong spirit; what once held me down is what now fortifies me. Furthermore, my most valued possession is my family. My parents have provided me with all the knowledge they have so as to be ready for my battle. They have disciplined me, and I respectfully obey in order to get through life understanding where I stand. I owe my accomplishments to them. They pushed me to focus on what is important; they ensured to make it very clear what my path to success is. I must not detour from what I pursue. And if this is the only thing God gives me, I am grateful. I do not look back, for the important only lies

I know many people. Some of them are amazing at a sport in which I only possess mediocre skills in, others are able to maintain their high standard GPA's, while others keep their commendable reputations of perfectness. So, I know many meritable people, and then there is me, and for a girl who has failed so many times in her life ( tests, sports, a vain attempt at artistic skills) it becomes a little delusive to continue to believe that one day I will "triumph." That one day I will "get my time to shine. " You eventually grow accustomed to always hearing "no", receiving the letter that reads "we are sorry to inform you that..." or simply having another door shut right into your face, and after a while, per say my sixteen years of life in…
