The 12 step meeting that I attended was an over eaters anonymous. When I arrived, I was greeted openly and the people were very friendly. I had to announced who I was and the purpose of me being there. I was surprise that I was accepted as part of the group. The group had given several pamphlets and invited me to attend their weekly meetings.…
Cognitive Learning: Discuss at least three group concepts that impacted you. Use Bloom’s Taxonomy – Cognitive Domain Our group processing class was thought-provoking, in the sense that, it was an online group, with rules, but no set objectives and goals. We met for four sessions and discussed issues at random.…
During and after the group project I got a better understanding of NAVAL and a better understanding of my group. For example, Lexi is the leader of the group and Camille is the worker bee meaning that she is the one to go to for the information about the presentation. There were many high points in the group such as when we completed are power point early and when we researched the information. I had a blast working with them. A low point was when the video couldn’t load and we had to start from scratch again.…
I really enjoyed having this class and found it very helpful in increasing my writing abilities. The unit 3 project and conference was different than anything I had done before, but at the same time useful and fun. I did my unit 3 project and final on false food advertising. I found this to be a very interesting topic as it is something I have always wondered about. My project was a PowerPoint which included examples, images, and facts about how companies and fast food chains falsely advertise their food products.…
I’ve also had a couple of group projects since I became a student of USF and the experiences hasn’t been different but enlightening. I had the opportunity of working with people of diverse socio-cultural…
The idea of becoming a storm link leader has always intrigued me as a student. In our school I find that Storm Link is a great opportunity for students to support grade 9 students transitioning into high school, to develop connections with one another, and get involved in different activities around the school. I feel that this kind of club will benefit me as I am a very strong student in the area of working as a team. Collaboration is one of my strengths and I feel that being a part of this group will allow me to use my abilities and hep others through it. When working in a group I make sure that all ideas are heard, encourage everyone to participate, and create a friendly and energetic environment to work in.…
Hello Lequante, Hello Prof. Budzinski, Thank you for the positive feedback! It means a lot to me, to be recognized for my efforts. I truly put in a lot of time into my post, which often includes supporting information and encouragement. In the addition to incorporating my personal life experiences.…
For me the activity of working as a group especially with other individuals who I have not worked with or talked to before was a good learning experience that had both positive and negative outcomes using Driscoll’s model of reflection as a frame work to elaborate on how I interpreted what happened, what impact the situation had on me and what I will do in the future if presented with a similar situation (Driscoll and Teh, 2001). We were required to do a 10 minute presentation for a health promotion project that we developed. I decided to work with other individuals who I didn’t know and have not worked with before as I believed I would be more productive and respectful if I worked with people I didn’t know very well. For the first tutorial…
As a result, few did not have any idea how far we have been in the work we were doing. It was a very good experience for me. I learned that every member of a group has a very important role to play in the success of the project. Maintaining good focus, and same level of attention is another important factor in small group projects that can affect the outcome of the work.…
Collaboration has played a major role both personally and for my community. My first experience with collaborations is when I joined a FIRST robotics team. As you can imagine, I had to work with teammates of every kind in order to produce a final product. However, the more I became involved with the team, the more I started working with people outside the team. For example, the team and I started several new fund raisers that helped promote community collaboration.…
General education and special education teachers have a long history of co-teaching and collaboration. Recently this movement has spread to co-teaching and co-planning with ESOL educators on determining pedagogy and strategies specifically for English learners. (Dove & Honigsfeld, 2010; Marietta & Brookover, 2011). There is a need to develop initiatives for expanding the range of co-teaching to ESOL and special education teachers to meet the specific language, literacy, and academic needs of students who receive both ESOL and Special Education services (Garcia, S.B., & Tyler, B-J. 2010).…
Emily Petty began her experience at New Tech High @ Coppell (NTH@C) uncertain of the success she would have there. She did not know if could succeed in a project based learning school due to her timid nature. Before her time at New Tech she believed her vocal cords were non-existent. Through NTH@C she was able to grow both as a learner and a person within society.…
Capstone class has challenged my communication, writing, and presentation skills. These skills I have improved on and found my voice in doing presentation. Working in a group has thought me on how to communicate with difficult people especially when everyone has their own opinion. Even though the workload was intense under a short time frame it was rewarding, challenging, and manageable. I learned that I could complete an assignment under pressure and in a short time frame.…
Overall, I was extremely happy with the effort my group put into this project. In terms of attending the group meetings, everyone was present and participated in the discussion. The first meeting took place on a Sunday afternoon at Baruch and the second meeting took place on a weeknight in the form of a Google Hangout. The times and places of these meetings alone displayed every group members’ commitment to the project, effort to accommodate for scheduling conflicts, and effort to ensure they are contributing their fair share to the group regardless the time or day of the week. At these meetings, we discussed ways to engage the crowd and critiqued each other’s slides and presentations.…
Everyone one contributes there knowledge in their own way. Positive change can only be attained through a collaborative effort; it takes a team to turn awareness into action. Personally, I have learned that I still have a lot of growing and developing to do. Taking one course is not going to teach me everything I need to know about community engagement and how to be an effective leader. However, it has made me aware of the changes I need to make in order to become a more aware individual.…
