While reading “Using Collaboration, Co-Teaching, and Question Answer Relationships to Enhance Content Area Literacy” by Nicole Fenty, I had a chance to learn about some strategies that can be used while co-teaching with a Special Education teachers and a general education teacher. Collaboration is the key to success in a general education setting where there are students who have an IEP because the teachers need to be on the same page of what the students need to learn while Co-Teaching. It is important that each teacher shares the responsibility of teaching the students. This sharing of responsibility allows for teachers to become more knowledgeable in their subjects which, allows them to teach the areas they know the best. Being knowledgeable …show more content…
The main strategy that was talked about was QAR which are Question Answer Relationships and this is a strategy can enhance reading comprehension skills. During QAR students are able to show off their abilities to infer and determine what the most important points are of a story. There are “ special and general education teachers who planned instruction together were more likely to equally share classroom instructional duties than those who did not engage in collaborative planning.” (Fenty) This collaboration is working in schools and it can be seen in classrooms. While reading this article, I already knew a bit about QAR from previous classes but, we never dove into why we should be using this strategy or even how to improve QAR. One of the tips that were given in this article was that collaboration is linked to student success due to the specialized knowledge of co-teachers. I think it is so important to have the specialized knowledge. I remember in Middle school, I could tell when a teacher didn’t know what they were talking about and in my reading class in seventh grade we had a co-teacher situation and I knew that when we were doing reading comprehension one of the co-teachers knew everything about how to teach it compared to the other teacher who was better at teaching

Often the teachers may be a general education teacher and the other a special education teacher. There are six approaches to co-teaching. They are as follows: one teach/ one observe, one teach/ one assist, station teaching, parallel teaching, alternative teaching, and team teaching. I chose to discuss this topic because it is important to remember these approaches to co-teaching because of the possibility of experiencing co-teaching in my future career. Co-teaching helps assist classroom instruction because by knowing each approach, you can better choose which approach will best suit the content and the students.…

When developing our co-teaching framework at AAHS, we considered the background of each special educator before placing them with the general education teacher. For example, it would be unrealistic to place a teacher with a strong English background in a math classroom and vise versa. This example applies to placement of the entire staff and ensuring that teachers are highly qualified in the areas they teach. Process and systems must also be in place for low performing teachers to support them in improvement of performance. While teaching in Clovis, New Mexico, I was able to mentor a teacher who was new and had a hard time connecting with students and managing the classroom.…

Working as part of an interprofessional team presents both advantages and challenges for members of the team. One of the advantages is in the coordination of care for the patient and the ability of all of the team members to have input based on their assessment of the patient. There is a sharing of information that is real-time that has a positive effect on patient safety and the outcomes for the patient. Challenges for an interprofessional team is poor role definition, miscommunication, assignment of responsibilities, and tasks (Reeves, 2012). During the formation of a interprofessional team group norms can be described as the ground rules or the expectations of behavior by the team.…

Collaboration offers an effective approach for organizations to resolve complex problems, maximize resources and improve innovation. However, the organization must establish the conditions for collaboration to be successful and use a deliberate approach to collaborating with other, external stakeholder organizations. This paper identifies a few historical challenges that the Department of Defense and other federal agencies faced in the past, how those organizations sought to overcome those challenges, and how these solutions can apply to other public organizations. Historical Challenges Communication and operational synchronization within the Department of Defense are two particularly notable historical challenges. During the conflict in Vietnam…

However, I certainly understand that in order to have an active collaboration intelligence cycle is necessary that the community and the police field have a well- balanced relationship. If I had to use techniques to decrease crime in my community. I will consider engaging with the community, following by training the police officers not only physically but mentally, by require them to pursue a degree and get more educated, by incorporating activities like martial arts for police training. Sometimes the delinquents are more clever than police officers, they are in better shapes, they are more active and are able to mobilize faster and better.…

Cooperative Learning: Think-Pair-Share Collaborative group learning along with the Think-Pair-Share activity can significantly improve critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills as indicated in a study that compared a group of students being administered a Think-Pair-Share teaching method against a group of students engaged in a Non-Think-Pair-Share teaching method (Kaddoura, 2013). The academic performance benefits of cooperative learning have been known for decades because Rober E. Slavin suggested, back in 1980, that students engaged in cooperative learning perform better academically than students learning through traditional lecture methods of instruction; this results are still supported today. In addition, Bruce Joyce…

Unauthorized collaborating is when you receive, share or work with someone on an assignment without specific permission from your professor. This rule applies to homework, classwork, take home tests, essays and other assignments. Working with another student without permission affects your ability to learn the material and you may be using it to your advantage instead of actually putting the effort into completing your assignments. Professors may have different policies from course to course but the policy is always stated on the syllabus. Unauthorized collaboration is not a part of the syllabus because if you combine your ideas with another student' ideas then you have an edge on your classmates because you all have combined your thoughts…

I was definitely not the best partner to work with this week as I was on vacation until Saturday morning and had little time on my computer. However, Yoselin was super understanding and we used text messaging to have the most efficient conversations about our project. It is sometimes difficult for members of a group to have equal responsibilities.…

Let me start by saying I joined the collaboration over the phone this week since my computer would not connect. The only thing I did not like was that I was unable to voice my opinion and join in the discussions. You talked about the CACFP program and I do participate in this program. I am glad to be a part of this because I have a lot of minority families here and they do not eat the typical fruits and vegetables like me. With this being said we offer lots of new fruits and vegetables into their diets.…
