I want to become involved in the Cognitive Science Community, as it would be an insightful experience to facilitate discussion outside of the classroom about the variety of subjects encompassed in understanding of the mind including Psychology, Philosophy, and Economics.
At Michigan, LSA will also allow me to gain hands-on experience in various fields of research, primarily those of psychology and cognition. Because I haven’t conducting academic research in the past, the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program will be extremely beneficial to me as it will help me develop my research skills and apply my learnings to a real-world situation. I hope to work on the Infant Cognition Project, run by professor Henry Wellman, specifically on their current research study regarding how young children interact with and understand animals.
More generally, I am drawn to LSA because of the countless opportunities to make a difference in the community that are provided throughout the college and the university. I would like to volunteer at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, where I could continue to volunteer in a hospital and better the patient experience while also fulfilling my passion of working with children and exploring my interest in
