Back in 2014, her sister got engaged after dating her now husband for eight years. Since Heather is now turning 26, she believes it is time to get married, however, she has been having issues maintaining relationships. Now that she is experiencing issues with relationships. She believes after she gets married, she does not have to work a full-time job and can become a stay at home wife. Recently, she has been getting anxiety at work and states how she has been stressed about all the responsibilities she has to complete at work. She has confronted her father about paying for her to go back for graduate school, although, her father states how he paid for her bachelor’s degree and will not pay for her masters. Due to not wanting to go to work, she has been calling off and relying on her roommate to help her pay rent. She believes since she stays home and sweeps, her roommate should contribute to her side of the rent. Based on her unrealistic rules, Heather’s roommate addressed how she is moving out at the end of the month to live with her boyfriend. According to Kaur, Pote, Fox, and Paradisopoulos, this intervention too useful for assisting individuals who are experiencing an antisocial behavior. Although, the therapy examines the client’s family system and dysfunctional patterns (Kaur et al., 2017). Since the client is supported by her parents, however, distant from her sister, this therapy can help with the parental hierarchy stresses between the mother and father. How this theory is a good fit for this counselor is by how the counselor grew up in a dysfunctional home. By growing up in a dysfunctional environment, the counselor understands how other’s rules or behaviors can influence another family member’s actions. Such as the counselor’s mother being classified as low socioeconomic status, the counselor believed it is normal for a mother to work, which influenced her to obtain a career and be independent.
