This semester Dr. Lowe has a patient she has seen for a long time. He is currently assign to an LPC intern student at the office. He completed his internship, and the patient will continue to see him for therapy at his new internship location. Then, Dr. Lowe, had the patient interview all the interns who are currently interning at her office. To become his new case manager, and help assist him with moving forward with his life. I don’t know if this is a standard procedure for clients to interview interns? What I find unethical about the situation is that upon working with Dr. Lowe we have not been trained on how to do case manager work which consists of a role that focuses on linking clients to resources. The agency usually is strictly geared towards doing therapy sessions with individuals, families, children, and parolee inmates. Majority of her clients are here for court ordered counseling, Medicaid patients, and anxiety counseling. My concern is what happens to this client after the intern leaves the agency, is he assigned to the next new intern? When it comes to responding to Dr. Lowe, this is her agency, and she does not like suggestions from a BSW intern, that is a fact.

The office dynamics are different daily, some days there will be five to seven clients scheduled for the day. Next shift you are scheduled, and there might be a sibling counseling and an individual case. Upon starting your shift, there is a list of chores to be completed, and list of appointment reminder calls to do. The most learning I receive is when MB conducts our group sessions and our

A conflict between a physician and patient on the course of treatment is a common topic that arises in bioethical conversation. This case explores the topic of paternalistic choices dealing with patient autonomy and when it is ethically reasonable for a physician to intervene and decide as to whether an individual is competent to make decisions about their own care. The patient in the case, Mr. Howe was asked to make a lifesaving medical decision while in duress and not fully understanding the procedure and the potential outcome if he refused. In this case I believe the physician made the correct decision to intubate Mr. Howe against his explicit instructions not to. Ethical Considerations for a Human Services Worker The National Organization of Human Services (n.d.) defines the profession as being unique in the way that it approached the needs of humans. This definition states that human services professionals “focus on prevention as well as remediation of problems, as well as committing to improving the overall quality of life (NOHS, n.d.).” While focusing on remediation of problems for clients, human services workers will face ethical decisions that will need to be considered. These decisions are based on codes of ethics, but also on the human service worker themselves. A few different actions could be beneficial in ensuring that Ponzi schemes like the one perpetrated by Mr. Madoff do not happen in the future. One of these actions is to ensure that professionals and organizations working in the financial sector receive education regarding ethical behaviors and common pitfalls. Ensuring that individuals working in this important industry are ethically competent is important to the health of the nation as ethical issues erode the trust that Americans have in financial services. As America depends on these financial services for its economic output, maintaining this trust is vital. Pohling, Bzdok, Eigenstetter, Stumpf, and Strobel (2016) point out that ethical competence involves not the ability to recognize when an ethical dilemma exists and the ability to identify the correct ethical actions.…

When providing care, health care providers often face ethical dilemmas related to care due to parental control. According to Hill (2012), two common-law presumptions have contributed to a state of confusion; the first presumption is without any special rule, children lack the legal authority to consent to medical treatment on their own, and the second is parents have a legal entitlement to make medical decisions for their minor children (p. 38).…
