Cleopatra met Julius Caesar while he was commencing the seize on Egypt. Cleopatra used her charm to make Julius Caesar fall in love with her. She rose to the throne once more after Julius Caesar defeated her brother, Ptolemy VIII. According to the New World Encyclopedia she gained a political advantage by when she became Julius Caesar’s lover. He helped restore her power within the Egyptian empire. Later on, they had a child who was named Ptolemy Caesar (or Caesarion). After the mysterious death of Ptolemy XIV, Cleopatra made Caesarion her co-regent. This also granted her more power because of the ranking of julius Caesar and Caesarion being the son of him and Cleopatra. After Caesar’s returning to Rome, he became even higher in power by declaring himself as dictator of life. He began dressing like a King. This lead to people in rome hating him. Plutarch wrote, “What made Caesar hated was his passion to be king.” He most likely dressed like a king because of his time spent in Egypt. With the Egyption political system having Kings and Queens, Julius Caesar being lovers with a queen probably lead him to enjoy satisfaction of being a king even though the people of Rome disapproved of the kingship system. This disapproval lead a group of senators to plot to kill Julius
