Cinderella as directed by Kenneth Branagh which starred Lily James as Cinderella, Cate Blanchett as her wicked stepmother, and Helena Bonham Carter as her fairy godmother stuck to the original theme from 1950 in which Cinderella won over Prince Charming, but it also presented a somewhat magical approach in empowering young girls. Each review had a different take on the movie and could have greatly impacted one’s decision to see the movie or even purchase the DVD. Had I only ready Heyman’s review, this movie would not have been watched at the theater nor would I have purchased the DVD. Star power is not enough to make me watch a movie. Vancheri’s review was the most informative. I like the twist that Alexander presented with Cinderella’s first encounter with Prince Charming. As stated before, I believe this movie met the criteria of any young girl who loves the fairytale land of princesses, beautiful dresses, and magical characters. Adults can still enjoy the storyline of Cinderella and the other characters as there is the instillation of good virtues, conflict, tragedy, and triumph. I will definitely buy the
