Individuals must have symptoms present for at least six months before a diagnosis of CIP is determined according to Faure (2004). “Several laboratory tests must be done such as; blood count, which checks for anemia or infection; erythrocyte sedimentation rate, which measures inflammation in the body; thyroid hormone levels, tests to determine an individual’s levels of serum electrolyte, and additional antibody test that are used to rule out the conditions or causes of CIP. X-ray and CT studies are also done to check tissue structure within the abdomen according to Sanaka and Soffer (2003).” The test helps to identify the nature of the illness and other issues by examining the symptoms. The results after testing will provide additional information about the disorder and reveal specific cells involved, so it can be treated properly.
