Chris could do nothing but watch as a young marine died in his arms. “He died right then. He didn’t even live long enough to hear my lies about how everything was going to be okay.”(pg 170) This demonstrates the trait of loss because people lose friends/family and can’t do anything to help, which is how Chris feels when he attempts to save him but in his head, he knew that he couldn't. This is an issue that everyone will at one point encounter in their life but someone who enters the military such as Chris Kyle might encounter this a lot more often. Throughout the book, Chris also goes through a lot of stress when his wife calls him to tell him that his daughter has cancer. Chris was talking to his wife taya and learns that his daughter has leukemia. “I am not entirely sure what all she said, but what I heard was, leukemia. Cancer.”(pg 301) Stress is something people face every day and can be caused by many things, Chris finding out that his daughter has cancer had to be one of the toughest.
