An interview was held on June 1995 with the American author “ David James “Dave” Pelzer . The interview showed all the audience the truth behind David’s childhood experience which he shared in his book “ Child Called It “ . Pelzer shares in this interview the reason behind writing this book , and what message Is he delivering to his audience .

- Mr. Dave , “ Child Called It “ , the novel that you wrote which had an impact on most of the audience , and is considered your best and most successful book , what did it mean to you writing it ?
- This memoir of my childhood meant so much to me , as it described the story of my life getting abused by my own mother . I wrote this novel to describe what happened to me in childhood , and also send a big thanks to my teachers who acted heroes at day five in march 1973 .

- I was a part of a normal typical family , where I was loved both my parents , everything was going great until it did reach to and end , all suddenly has changed when my mother started drinking and feeling depressed most of her time , which impacted me and let her take out all her negative feelings on me .
- If you don’t mind the question , can you describe us what kind of abuse and punishments your mother used to use against you ?
- It all began with normal punishments like standing in the corner , until it progressed to physical abuse . My mother did only focus on me . punishments progressed to include mental punishments and starvation .
- Did anything change after your mom gave birth to two more sons ?
- Yes after my mother gave birth to my brothers punishments got harsher , what hurt me the most is hearing my mother and brothers enjoying their time while I was getting punished
