Recycling
In our world it is crucial that people recycle as often as possible to help save the planet. The most common material to be recycled is paper. There is more paper recycled every year than aluminum, plastic and glass combined. In 2011, over 65% of paper in the United States was recycled. Paper can be recycled five to seven times before the fibers are too small to create any new paper. When paper reaches a recycling center it is separated into different grades. The lowest grade of paper is newspaper because it has already been recycled multiple times and printer paper is of the highest grade. Paper is put into large bales and is taken to a mill where the recycling process begins. Paper is shredded in a mixture containing water and other chemicals. After the paper is shredded it is heated and the paper splits itself into fibers. Paper is then spun which removes the ink and cleans the paper. Next the paper is placed on a conveyer belt with water that bonds the fibers together. Finally the paper is dried by heated metal rollers and is transformed into large rolls that can be used to make paper products. …show more content…
Landfills are full of waste that is releasing dangerous and harmful chemicals into the world so people want to keep the amount of waste going into a landfill at the absolute minimum. Paper comes from trees and although trees are an abundant resource it is important to not kill any more than necessary. Trees are extremely beneficial to human life and the more that people remove from nature the more humans are hurting
