Which classes of British society benefited the most from the industrial revolution?
The industrial revolution was a great turning point in the world history. The industrial revolution started around the eighteenth century towards the nineteenth century in Europe. Britain was one of the most industrialized counties of that time. This revolution brought about many changes in social structures and living conditions. It brought about larger modernized cities, new social classes and new manufactured products that increased the life expectancy in some areas. And Generally speaking the Industrial era especially in Britain favoured middle class people and harmed the lower class people known as the Labouring class.

They made up a small fraction of the British society and their professions were quite rare therefore there were many well paying jobs that were available for them. These people lived in the cities but in a very different place to the working class their houses were more advanced and had better facilities. In Benjamin Disraeli’s novel Sybil the relationship between the middle class and the working class is described ‘...as if they were dwellers in different zones or in habitats of different planets’ (Strayer, 2012: 839). Most of them owned servants to do their cooking and house work for them and look after their children as well. The middle class children had the advantage of receiving significant education and higher education at the
