What are the qualities of a good leader? What can you learn from the examples of great leaders of the past? Good leaders are the one whose actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more. A good leader is the one who helps group of people identify what they want and how to get it, and influence them to take coordinated action to achieve the desired outcomes. They are not necessarily the one who does the greatest things but is the one that gets people to do the greatest things. They achieve results at a level far beyond what others achieve. Good leaders have qualities like being honest, exhibiting confidence, inspiring others and other many more which makes them unique.
Honesty is the most basic quality of a good leader.

All leaders have to exhibit confidence if they’re going to succeed. Confidence in leadership is a reliable indicator of team satisfaction. It is important quality as people will look up on the leaders on how to behave, particularly if things aren’t going 100% right. If a leader remain calm in those situations, team members are far more likely to be as well. Whereas if a leader panics and gives up, team members will know and things will simply go down the hill. They must be confident and act confident. “Trying to teach leadership without first building confidence is like building a house on a foundation of sand. It may have a nice coat of paint, but it is ultimately shaky at best” (Dao, 2008). Good leaders aren’t afraid of being challenged. Elon Musk is a great example of leader with confidence. He truly believes that his company, Tesla will be successful which has proved many times through his actions. He converted 532,000 stock options at$6.63 each, their value on December 4, 2009 before Tesla went public. Tesla’s stock price stood around $195 per share at that time. Inspiring leader is someone who communicates clearly, concisely and often and by doing so motivates everyone to give his/her best all the time. They challenge people by setting high but attainable standards and expectations and giving them support tools, training, etc to pursue these goals. They share their knowledge with the team and give them opportunity to achieve. They should give feedback and encouragement so that they grow and do better. Leaders need to inspire people through their actions. They must inspire people to take decisions and do things which are important. They must be an inspiration and an example to the people. Pope Francis has been unusually popular with many Catholics and many non-catholics. His position isn’t totally traditional which is part of his appeal but he also has admirable leadership skills. He grew attention because he encouraged leaders to be humble and to demonstrate teamwork. This inclusive, kind and respectful style of leadership is incredibly important for any situation.
