Schools around the world are often noticed for providing students with an education centered on academia. However, a teacher’s job usually goes above and beyond teaching basic course work. From the young age of five to eighteen the majority of a child’s time is spent at school. While there are many students who have parents who consistently set an example of good behavior and morals, some are not as fortunate and are only lead by good example within a classroom. Teachers are left to make sure their students are learning proper behaviors, morals and ethical values. By instilling these morals it is believed it can help to reduce crime rates, promote better health choices, build a bridge between different social classes, and help to create a better community. According to Thomas (1991), character deals with the concept of moral (moral knowing), moral attitudes (moral feeling), and moral behavior (moral behavior). Based on these three components, it can be stated that good characters are well supported by the knowledge of the good, the desire to do good, and do deeds of kindness. Character education is a factor that is debated across the nation; these values will essentially shape students in the persons they will become. As said by Trames (2015), the character education program stresses that the main role of teachers is to create an environment (‘a caring school community’), which allows the students to develop certain behavioral inclinations or qualities of character (virtues) and perform morally required acts. The results of these types of teachings not only affect the students, but they are a reflection of the teachers, and later go on to impact society as a whole. There are definitely some cultural differences based on geographies, for example in the south many common customs are still very much the same although the may be a bit more lenient. However, if you travel up north there have been changes made, especially when it comes to addressing one’s elders and superiors. Also different social classes may have differing morals, those in high income families might be exposed to a higher set of standards when it comes to honoring morals and values than someone from a lower income family. Teaching moral values effects education in the way that students choose to perceive it, while some students latch onto its practices others may choose to ignore it which could only cause problems. By being exposed to greater morals and ethical values students will be able to grow in every way, it will initially help students to succeed in the later parts of their lives. Administering better morals and ethics gives teachers, administrators, parents, and the community a sense of pride in the younger generations, and in the long run helps to better society. The types of morals that teachers teach their students can be related to everyday classroom rules, such as manners, showing respect for oneself as well as others, following directions, being courteous,
