In “And Then There Were None” by Agatha Christie, ten strangers are invited to an island by the mysterious “U.N. Owen”. On the first night of their stay, each guest is exposed for being responsible for the death of someone that they knew. They soon become frightened and seek to leave Soldier Island. Because there is no boat, they are forced to stay overnight and wait for one. That night, both Anthony Marston and Ethel Rogers are murdered. Based on the evidence from chapters one to five, Mr. Rogers is guilty because of his desire to keep his wife and anyone else who wants to investigate quiet. When Ethel and Thomas Rogers are accused of killing their former employer in chapter three, the couple begins acting nervous and distraught. Although the couple claimed that she died of old age, their reactions raise suspicions that they could’ve killed her for her money. Ethel, who couldn’t help but look frightened, faints and Thomas looks at her and tells her to pull herself together. He realized that he would have to kill Marston to make sure that everyone would leave the island. Mr. Rogers is the butler, and subsequently has access to all of the guest’s food and drinks in the house. Although Marston was said to have made his own drink, Thomas could’ve easily slipped something into the glass if he was tending the bar or preparing drinks for the other guests. This helps to support my claim of Mr. Roger’s guilt, because he had something to gain from killing Marston. Mr. Roger’s was afraid that he would lose his money and go to jail. Thus he decided to murder the only person who was ready to

Essay Analysis The essay on Agatha Christie was fairly effective on supporting and proving its thesis on how Christie’s book has had a big impact on readers everywhere even today. The essay is above average in my opinion because of several reasons. To start off the essay, the writer asks a rhetorical question to the reader which is very effective to help the reader start thinking about the topic. Also, the writer doesn’t use any form of personal voice which is effective in getting the reader engaged in the topic by having the the reader focus on the topic instead of the writer.…

When Connie doesn’t do what she’s told, however, Arnold threatens to kill her family and kidnap Connie. For example, the theme of a worst nightmare coming true is seen throughout many stories, like Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. In my opinion this was not the way to handle the situation. Roger ends up doing the same exact thing to Frank’s family as he did to Rogers family. He threatened the security and safety that Franks family felt before he invades their home. I understand that he was just trying to ensure that his family was safe, but I feel he went to far. He should have involved the police, but I also know how the conflict of rage and instability of the safety of his family would cause him to act in such a way.…
