The purpose of this report is to explain the change models that I as Sales and Marketing Director would use for short-term and long-term change at Sea Treasures. The company is a group of retail stores that specialize in expensive aquarium accessories and exotic sea life and is currently facing downsizing and going out of business within twelve months. Two major changes short and long-term are required at the company at this point. These three transformation stages are Unfreeze, Transition and Refreeze. The company will like face significant resistance from employee as can be expected in any short-term change process that is expected to take effect rapidly. The first stage the Unfreeze helps with overcoming this resistance as it helps thaw and break the ice, so to speak, between management and the employees, hence the name. It mellows the resistance and incorporates an acceptance of the change initiative. Another thing in its favor is that out of the eight stages of this model, the first will already have been accomplished by the start of this process. Stable transition for the company will require them to be considered at the end of the first six months, which time can be used for the short-term change discussed above.
