The balanced restoration model is demonstrated in the Ong. He is having to face the people’s family who is hurting from the death. The face to face value showed his true remorse and allowed Palermo’s family to see and suggest an alternative to jail time. This is the victim column (see figure 1) of retribution. She was paralleled parks on lake street when she opened her door causing a devastating chain of events. The biker flew off his bike into the road and was then hit by a motorist. One extra or less second could have changed the situation entirely. I will always remember the phone call from Emma telling me that she needed to be picked up. I could hear the anguish in her voice so clearly I knew that things were dire. When I picked her up she was still on the site of the accident giving information to the police and emergency personal. Hans was sent to Loveland hospital with a severe brain accident, shattered jaw, broken arms, and broken back. Emma was also shattered but emotionally rather than physically. The accident was devastating enough but the case was even harder to handle. She has to relive it time and time again and it broke her down. She naturally blamed herself and apologized in every manner possible. She changed the day of the accident and even a year later I can still see her hands shake when she is parking. Fortunately, no charges were pressed because it was a freak accident that could have happened to anyone. All evidence showed that she did nothing wrong but open a door. Hans recovered fully and is attending CSU again. If hurting someone caused Emma that much pain, I cannot even fathom if she took his life. I am nothing but sympathetic to Ongs family and the family of the biker. His own guilt is worse
