Cesar Chavez was born in March 31, 1927 in place call Yuma, Arizona. His family owned a grocery store and a ranch, but lost it during the Great Depression. Those were tough times for the Chavez family. They found work in the fields, picking vegetables in the winter and some fruit in the summer. He went to work in the fields. In the 7th grade, he quit school because he didn’t want his mother to work in the fields. He wanted to make a difference for his family and his future.
Cesar worked very hard, he got up very early in the morning to work and continued until the end of the day. One farm worker would get paid by each box, which was 25 cents and by the end of the day he would get $1.40. Ceasar also worked hard in the fields for a small payment at the end of the day. By age 38, he started an organization called United Farm Workers for all the farm workers in America to better their working conditions..
