Cell Phone Radiation Research Paper

Introduction:
Cell phones are durable communication devices whose popularity has increased significantly since their first arrival over four decades ago in 1973. Cell phones transmit and receive radio-frequency electromagnetic waves which are the weakest waves in the electromagnetic spectrum with the lowest frequency but the biggest wavelength in the spectrum. This type of electromagnetic radiation is less dangerous than higher frequency electromagnetic radiation at immediate contact as it is non-ionizing however there has been debate over the long term effects of radio-frequency waves on the human body, particularly those which are found in cell phones which are devices that are constantly in contact or very close proximity with the human

Non-ionizing radiation has not provided evidence that it increases cancer risk and although radio-frequency energy has the ability to heat, this effect is not significant enough to raise the body temperature of the user. Also, the radiation that is found in cell phones is too low for it to cause significant damage to the user; therefore there should be no need for a written health risk for the consumer thus making it potentially ethical for cell phone companies to exclude it. An extensive study by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health found that there was no evidence confirming that the low-frequency radiation transmitted by cell phones caused any negative health effects. The study also concluded that cell phone radiation is below the threshold which would prove dangerous enough to cause the excitation of nerve cells or the breaking down of DNA which is required for a cancer to form. The absence of a written warning would then be …show more content…
Radio-frequency waves easily penetrate brick as well as metal and up to 80% of the radiation from the cell phone has been seen to be able to penetrate about 6cm into the adult brain. When it is considered that children, particularly those that are still in the process of development, have much thinner scalps and skulls, it can be concluded that the radiation will be able to penetrate much deeper than into that of an adult and can even affect their bodies much more than adults as their cells multiply at a much faster rate than that of adults. Through an experiment done on mice whereby pregnant mice were exposed to the low frequency radiation found in cell phones and others were not. The mice offspringthat were exposed to the radiation experienced increased hyperactivity as well as decreased memory. This experiment illustrated the effect that cell phone radiation experienced during pregnancy may cause hyperactivity and decreased memory in the babies which were born. Because of these effects, the sale of cell phones without written health warnings for the consumers cannot be seen as being

What are health sissies coursed by RadioWaves Radio Waves emit Radio Frequency (RF) radiation, which can give off a high or low RF energy. If the radio wave gives of a high RF it can course serious health effects coursing burns and tissue damage which can be absorbed into large amounts of water, food and fluids and can be the course of cancer. If the radio wave gives of a low RF it still can course burns and tissue damage, but can not be the course of cancer. Low Radio Waves can not course cancer since it is a non-inoizing radiation, other non-ionizing radiation include visible light, Microwaves and infrared radiation. All of these non-inoizing do not have enough energy to course the inoization of atoms and molecules to change in the human…

For a multitude, cellular devices are most likely to be accessible at a small-scale radius. For years, society has evolved in profuse manners: technologically, socially, economically, etc. The long-term continuous use of technology has unquestionably raised controversy on whether cell phones have the power to cause cancer. In order to fully comprehend this inquiry, one must have background knowledge on how cellphones operate. Cell phones emit RF (radiofrequency) waves from their antennas to cell phone towers.…

The article starts by introducing the reader to the increased number of adolescent cell phone users, which in turn means that the level of radio frequency has also increased. This is of some concern due to the fact that “radiation exposures are higher for children than adults because children have thinner skulls” (Rosenberg 67). The article then goes on to introduce current and past research studies that are working to find a correlation between cell phone usage and brain cancer. In one of these studies, mice will be subjected to the radiation produced by cell phones several times a day to see how the frequencies affect their brains. The author then presents recommendations, from societies such as the American Cancer Society, on how to minimize radiation exposure.…

A scientific claim made about cell phones is whether or not radiofrequency energy exposure possibly causes cancer or other negative health risks or effects. 4 Cell phones emit an electromagnetic, non-ionizing form of radiation as radiofrequency energy from their antennas. This energy can be absorbed by nearby tissue such as your ear. Electromagnetic non-ionizing radiation is low energy and low frequency.…

This study of cell phones and the risk of brain cancer is an observational study. In an Observational study, a researcher can just watch what happens to series of people in a group. In the presented study, researcher can merely watch the effect of cellphone usage in group with brain cancer and a group who did not have brain cancer. This is not an experimental study as there were no treatments that changed the response to the study. The value of one variable changes the value of other.…

Cell phones have become essential to American culture. Not a day goes by where we don’t see someone with an iPhone or a Samsung in hand. They could be texting, browsing the web, writing a paper, or even the old-fashioned phone call to someone they love. When cell phones don’t work correctly because of bad reception we become frustrated, angry, or even upset that we’ve psychologically lost our biggest connection to the outside world and the culture it offers. For instance, we can no longer clearly hear our loved ones when reception gets bad.…

Many people are concerned about the dangers that cell phones pose, and they are told that keeping it a greater distance from their heads and using devices such as headphones can diminish much of the radiation; all of which is true. Unfortunately, since the technology industry has made the invention of wireless headphones, if people use their cell phones in conjunction with these devices, the radiation dosage can be even greater than normal. Using Bluetooth, the main type of wireless communication between devices, can have just as much electromagnetic radiation as talking on the phone. One team realized this and began to test the power density rating and the specific absorption rate (SAR), both of which measure radiation dosages. This team…

s is due to the radiofrequency energy emitted by cell phones (Senthil & Sakthi, 2015). Additional discoveries have found that the lead used to solder components from the cell phones together can cause damage to one’s central nervous system, as well as the immune and endocrine systems. Also, there are damaging developmental consequences to children’s brains (Zadok & Riikka, 2010). Researchers found that health risks include “headaches, difficulties in concentration, apathy, weakness and a variety of neurasthenic symptoms, which tended to be linked, at least partially, with the frequent use of mobile phones by the patients” (Szmigielski & Sobiczewska, 2000). All those health risks are linked to those who use a cell phone somewhat regularly.…
