There is evidence supporting the use of psychological therapies, particularly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in the treatment of depression. However, many studies have found that patients do not consistently receiving psychological therapies in routine clinical care (Shafran et al., 2009). Problems with the allocation of CBT therapies have been identified; the expense associated with service costs, high referral rates and long waiting times for therapy, problems with accessing services, and an inadequacy and unequal geographic distribution of accredited CBT therapists (Ham et al., 2012; Kessler, 2012). These problems of the allocation of traditional CBT therapy are driving demand for effective, low intensity, self-directed interventions…

, only 10-50% individuals receive treatment for depression. The WHO mental health Gap Action Program recommend CBT guided self-help approach along with traditional face-to face approach to gain access to psychological therapies to cover the gap (Williams et al. 2016). I chose my research topic to review if there are positive and desired results in using other forms of CBT just as…
eliminate distress on the parent's side. Counselors also work with parents by teach them tactics in handling the child when they display disruptive as well as proper tool to help promote communication between parents and the child. The child is also encouraged to form narratives of their experience and work through their feelings connected to the traumatic experience while using the techniques that were previously learned. The TF-CBT approach has shown notable results; however evidence-bases studies have demonstrated its limitations, especially when dealing with children of a specific age group (Scheeringa, Weems, Cohen, Amaya-Jackson, Guthrie, 2011).…
His symptoms of lack of concentration and difficulty sleeping are only surface level and are hiding some other thoughts and feelings that he has trouble expressing. CBT is a very beneficial intervention because it will not only help Frank resolve his depressive symptom but also help address the problems lurking underneath that are really affecting Frank. The limitation that CBT can have is that in trying to resolve the depressive symptoms and talking about his friend death, it can trigger past feelings or events that are not related to the presenting problem and unravel…
There is a greater abundance of research on DBT and its effectiveness with BPD. However, research on DBT has only been done including the entire DBT process of individual, group, team consultation and phone consultations. While DBT has been shown to be effective with all the therapeutic modes being used, little is known if all these modes are not available. For example, if a private practitioner wanted to use DBT while practicing in a rural area it may not be possible to find other DBT therapist to consult with. This may limit the uses of DBT depending on resources available.…

Cognitive behavioral therapy, known as CBT, is sometimes used alongside antidepressants to treat depression. It helps the patient identify the reason they’re depressed and make lifestyle changes while antidepressants suppress the feelings. However, studies have shown that the use of CBT on its own, without medication, has proven to be just as effective as the use of antidepressants on their own. In addition, the chance of relapse is significantly lower in patients who use opt to just use CBT. (Qaseem,…
Based on thirteen studies, the authors concluded that psychological therapies, all using a CBT approach, were more effective than treatment as usual or wait list control in achieving clinical response at post-treatment . However, those studies examining CBT against supportive therapy (nondirective therapy and attention-placebo conditions) did not find a significant difference in clinical response between CBT and supportive therapy at…
Final Project Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has become one of the leading choices for treatment when working with individuals who are diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). CBT is the utmost effective type of intervention used in counseling services and has created a large impact on the military community (Treatment Of PTSD, 2016). The implementation of CBT involves exploring individual’s negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors thus reconstructing them into a positive manner (NAMI, 2016). The efficacy of CBT has been a leading prospect for researchers. This literature review will examine the question of the efficacy of CBT for adult military personnel, who are diagnosed with PTSD.…
Abstract: The aim of the study is to test the hypothesis that CBT with exposure is better than CBT without exposure at decreasing avoidance and decreasing Agoraphobic symptoms in adults with PD. The results of these studies suggest that data on baseline fear and avoidance can provide compelling prognostic information regarding the conditions under which intensive treatment for PDA is most effective. Regarding the frequency of panic attacks, 68% of the patients showed improvement from pre- to post-treatment, while 6% had deteriorated. From post-treatment to follow-up, 24% showed further improvement, while 8% had deteriorated. In order to treat avoidance in Agoraphobia, the findings demonstrate that treatment delivery factors are relevant to…
Interpersonal therapy helps people understand and work through troubled relationships that may cause their depression or make it worse (Cassano, Fava, 2002).This type of therapy is especially useful when the root cause of the depression involves another…
Interpersonal therapy is most often used on a one-on-one basis to treat depression. IPT is based on the idea that improving communication patterns and the ways people relate to each other will effectively treat depression (“Psychotherapies,” n.d.). By addressing interpersonal issues, interpersonal therapy for depression puts emphasis on the way symptoms are related to a person’s relationships, including family and peers (“Interpersonal Therapy,” n.d.). The immediate goals of treatment are rapid symptom reduction and improved social adjustment. The long-term goal is to enable people with depression to make their own needed adjustments.…
The findings suggest that emotional regulation techniques should be included in CBT in order to improve symptoms. However, this study was limited by the small number of predictor variables, the use of statistical measures with narrowed scales, and the unrepresentative age…
Some of these objectives allow for people to be aware of and accept events that have painfully effected their lives, understand certain feelings or triggers that make their illness worse, and retake control of their lives by creating rational self-goals. There are two different types of psychotherapy: cognitive behavioral therapy and interpersonal therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy mainly focuses on negative thoughts and how one can change them to positive thoughts, while interpersonal therapy focuses on the personal relationships of the patient. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, “Psychotherapy alone may be the best option for people with mild to moderate depression, but it may not be enough for people with severe depression” (“Depression”). Teenagers have been shown to greatly improve in their fight against depression with the help of acceptance.…
