First of all, World War 1 was supposed to be “the war to end all wars,” but to state the obvious, that was not the case. After this war, the powers of Europe changed dramatically. The war that was supposed to end all wars did not do its job. Empires and countries ceased to exist, while others were forming. Because of the rise and fall of empires, the geography changed also. Conflicts aroused at the time of World War I are still stirring in our world today, such as the traumatic events in Syria. Terrorism was only a small flame burning in the background before the start of the Great War, and now it is a threat throughout the world because of the cause of World War 1. This conflict inspired artists to use new forms of art, such as surrealism and nationalism. It encouraged authors to reach out to a new form of writing called science fiction. This world war changed the way composers created music too. They used irony and humor to make their pieces more appealing and entertaining.
