In addition, it will allow the healthcare professionals to evaluate her possible deficiency in essential vitamins for the proper development of the fetus such as Folic acid. Folic acid is a B vitamin that is essential to prevent major neurological birth defects that could affect the brain and spinal cord. In addition, prenatal care and evaluation would give the patient information to assist with the care of the infant such as assistance with nutritional needs.
