My eye was swollen shut, but at least I didn't have to face surgical procedure, and I am able to leave with an ice pack for my eye. Weeks later, I was finally able to open my eye, and the eye was completely red due to all of the blood vessels in my eye being popped. I found out that my vision would never be the same, and I would always have a problem with depth perception. During my preoperative experience I noticed many safety checks were in place, not only for the patient, but also for the doctors, nurses, and surgical technicians. Upon entering the room during my perioperative experience, I immediately noticed steps in place that were being utilized to protect everyone within the room. All of the instruments were sterile. Nurses and surgical technicians were counting down to the very last suture to make sure all of the supplies were present.
