Trinsic Residential Group is unlike an FOE. While the company shares some common aspects of an FOE as described by Raj Sisodia et al. in Firms of Endearment, it lacks a holistic view of its business model and a broad consideration of stakeholders. There are several reasons for its departure from an FOE including; a market focus, availability of resources and the small, disjointed number of employees involved in the company. Over a period of time the company has begun to run more in line with an FOE, but is still a long way from becoming a full-fledged FOE as the authors of Firms of Endearment define them.…
Lights, sirens, and a horn are all a man on the ground can hear and see. When the ambulance arrives he is asked, “Which hospital would you prefer to be taken to?” The man is just four blocks away from Caldwell Memorial Hospital, but he says, “I want to live so take me to Frye”. Why would a man so close to a hospital want to go to one 18 miles away? Caldwell Memorial Hospital, the only hospital in Caldwell County, does not provide adequate health care for the county.…
The internal environment of Middleboro Community Hospital is quite varied. The culture is very diverse yet tranquil in nature, for the most part, though there seems to be a bit of disorder among management staffing and employee retention. MCH has continued to be strong financially over time, and they are money-wise. When there is a need to build additions to the hospital, fund-raising campaigns and Federal Hill-Burton monies are used for funds to finance the non-for-profit hospital.…
Case Study Up until her recent adoption by the Smith family, most of Renee Adams life took place within the foster care system. Renee’s involvement with the system began at the age of two when neighbors’ complaints about neglect prompted involvement by Child Protective Services (CPS). CPS worked with Renee’s mother for the period of one year but, after repeated failed drug tests and very little progress towards providing a safe environment for Renee, removal to foster care took place. After removal, reunification attempts went on for another year, however, Renee’s mother continued to struggle with addiction and made very little effort to see her child.…

Lenawee Community Mental Health Authority, or LCMHA, is an agency that was designed as a place for anyone with a mental diagnosis to go to. In 1970, Lenawee County appointed its first mental health board to explore the cost and the need for a mental health program. Shortly after in 1974, the agency relocated to the Riverside Professional Building. The directors and staff then spent the next three years developing the most efficient way to deliver services.…

The social worker decided to use Christine’s behavioral incident reports as a way to evaluate her intervention in an A-B single subject research design. The social worker believed using the incident reports would reduce bias in the evaluation because it was a method the foster parents were accustomed to using. The social worker also chose to not tell Christine about the evaluation, because she wanted the intervention to be the only thing that influenced Christine’s behavior. The behavioral incident reports used in the single subject research design were the ones that pertained to Christine not following the house rules, making impulsive decisions, and having poor boundaries with male peers. The social worker established a baseline by examining…
Introduction Child welfare is facing rapid transitions and changes both in Ontario and in Canada at large. The arena is currently in need of developing a healthy relationship between the worker, the client, family and the community the client belongs to (Platt, 2008). In social work with children, especially in the child welfare setting, client engagement is one of the crucial challenges. In all social work, practice based on a relationship is considered important (Howe, 2009). When interacting with the client, the manner of engagement and its dynamics focusing an alteration is vital because the outcome is the welfare of the child (Gladstone, Dumbrill, Leslie, Koster, Young, & Ismaila 2012).…
As mandated reporters social workers are obligated to report observed or suspected incidents of abuse (sexual, physical, verbal, financial, neglect, etc). I understand why social workers may experience ambivalence towards being a mandated reporter and why they may feel it jeopardized the therapeutic relationship. However, I am comforted by the obligation of being a mandated reporter as it take judgement of if and when I should report out of the equation. Often, individual’s I work with will ask me, “can I tell you something, but you can’t tell anyone else”? My response is always the same; “you need to consider what you would like to inform me”.…
