The SMART goal setting approach often requires the goal to be designed as specific, measureable, achievable, realistic and time based (Day & Tosey, 2011). Day and Tosey (2011) believe it should specify clearly the exact desired behaviour that we expect the student to demonstrate by establishing an acquisition statement. A good SMART goal should engage students’ commitment (Locke & Latham, 2002).
