According to Timm and Farr (1994), in our reading this week there are four unique characteristics in business research. First there is “problem oriented, with the objective of obtaining information to help solve a specific business problem or make a decision” (pg. 6). Two “business research has a time limit. Information is highly perishable” (pg. 6). It makes no sense to gather information after the fact or retrieve information after a decision has already been made. The third characteristic is “business research is done in an environment in which conditions change rapidly” (p. 6). The same question may need to be asked multiple times due to changes in the environment. Ethical perspective influences my thinking about what it means to conduct research and engage in applied business research continues from morals and values that have been taught to me. Fabricating or falsifying information would be morally wrong and unthinkable. Information used in the Living Case Study should not harm, scrutinize, or cause loss of employment to anyone. All information gathered from the preschool/daycare center will be confidential. Trust and cooperation are highly recommended by all parties involved. A well thought out process will be put into place so there will be no breach in confidentiality. Ethical perspective in research helps to build values such as trust, fairness, mutual respect, and accountability, between the researcher and the parties involved in the company to be researched. The Bible says it best in Proverbs 28:6 (English Standard Version) “Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his
