Introduction
Jim’s Dogs has been created with the intention of delivering a superior product to its consumers and offering a price and selection to appease many different nationalities and demographics. Students at Doherty High School have stated a need and want to have a hot dog vending service established on the grounds of the school. Primary research has found that the students need to have the ability to get a quick, delicious, filling hot meal, quickly, while at lunch, in between classes or after school. The school district would like other options that would allow the students to stay on campus and be safer, rather than cross several streets to go out to lunch and be late returning to classes. Jim’s Dogs will meet and comply with all regulatory and legal requirements, licenses and fees put forth by the City of Colorado Springs, El Paso County Health Department, State of Colorado and the Federal Government. Federal requirements will be met by obtaining a federal employer tax EIN number through the Internal Revenue Service. State requirements will be met by deeming the business as a sole proprietorship, registering the business trade name by filling a Statement of Trade Name with the Secretary of State’s office and obtaining a business license and tax number from the Colorado Department of Revenue and obtaining a federal tax I.D. number. The requirements of the El Paso County Health Department will be met with completing and submitting a Retail Food Establishment license, completing a certification of commissary and by having all employees complete the Food safety certification course. The hot dog cart and all of its equipment will be maintained according to all El Paso County Health Department guidelines. Past Political, Legal and Regulatory issues have caused change, in the external environment concerning food services, there is no real danger of transformation in the political setting or governmental rules that would unfavorably affect Jim’s Dogs ability to operate successfully and have an excellent ROI.
