Human beings are set to control nature that we fail to realize we are also destroying ourselves. Human beings themselves have become consequences of these chemicals and realizing when it is too late. As a result of chemical exposure they have died from cancer or other diseases according to Carson. Her thirst and quest to share with the world led her to “reach out to a network of scientists, physicians, librarians, conservationists and government officials” (Koehn, 2012). Using this collaboration she was able to gather and share the thought of linking cancer to pesticides. The damaged caused from spraying chemicals such as “DDT” led to the pollution of the air. This harmful spray left behind chemicals that many of us were not aware of and therefore did not know how to protect ourselves. Our government, failed to protect our health by exposing us to theses pesticides and effecting the value of the environment. As a result this spray was “applied in profligate quantities without regard to their effect on human health, animals and the environment” (Koehn, 2012).
