Personal Narrative: A Career As A Medical Assistant

The Bridge to My Medical Career
When we were growing up, people would always ask what we wanted to be when we grew up. I remember when I was three, my mom asked me what I wanted to be when I got older, and I told her I wanted to be a pediatrician. As I grew older, I watched my dad and grandfather make a career out of being in the military. I wanted to be just like them so I decided to join. The Navy is not a career I saw myself in, so I decided to get out and pursue a career in the medical field. As I learn more and more about the medical field, my passion has become more specific on being a nurse. Starting off as a Medical Assistant will allow me to understand the nursing field better. Since I have some experience in the medical field, going on to further my education as a Registered Nurse and having the knowledge before I start the program will make me more confident. Medical Assistant Medical Assistant has never been a dream job for me, however, I enjoy helping others and believe this a great foundation to start my medical career. Medical Assistants’ work primarily in doctors’ offices and clinics, but you may find some throughout hospitals in some states. Being a medical assistant, a certified caregiver, you must work under the supervision of a licensed nurse such as an RN or a physician. Being a Medical Assistant, you can assist in clerical duties or hands-on work alongside Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, or Physician Assistants. When you are hired on as an administrative medical assistant, typically you function as receptionists by answering the telephone and scheduling appointments for patients. When holding the job as an
