To raise awareness of heart disease and stroke as the number one killer of women, the AHA created Go Red for Women. This initiative was designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health (ANA, 2015). The goal of Go Red for Women is to encourage awareness and save lives. Members of Congress respect the involvement of constituents and I would inform Congress that heart disease is the leading cause of death for African-American and white women in the United States (CDC, 2015). Almost two-thirds of women who dies suddenly of CAD have no previous symptoms, and 1 in every 4 female deaths are caused by heart disease, killing 292,188 women yearly (CDC, 2015). I would construct letters, send e-mails, and make phone calls to my representative regarding this matter and how important it is too educated on heart disease and how it accounts for more than 312.6 billion in expenditures (HHS, 2015). Attending public meeting is another way I would share my knowledge and communicate the intent of my campaign as well as engaging the media.
