Dramatic cliffs rise from the turquoise waters of Georgian Bay. In large regions of forest, black bears roam and strange reptiles find shelter in rocky regions and diverse wetlands. Ancient cedar trees spiral from the cliff-edge; an abundance of orchids and ferns take root in diverse habitats. And the night is dazzling with stars in this Dark Sky Preserve. Welcome to the magic of Bruce Peninsula National Park.

C: In the early to mid-Silurian period, approximately 420 million years ago, this area was covered by a shallow tropical sea jam-packed with life in the form of plant-like animals, shellfish, living corals and Molluscs. When the sea began to dry up, the minerals dissolved in it became more and more concentrated. Magnesium in the water was absorbed into the limestone, which then became a harder, slightly different sort of rock, called dolomite. The harder dolomite limestone forms much of the rock of the incline cliffs along Bruce Peninsula National Park's Georgian Bay shoreline.
D; Since the last Ice Age, water levels in the region have continued to change. Therefore the softer limestone has been eroded away by water This has left gorgeous overhanging cliffs at along the shore which is one of the many reasons that it attracts so many tourist. Glaciers have also played a very big role over the years in forming the rugged formation.
C; The escarpment of this peninsula is divided into 3 layers stacked upon each other. The bottom layer is a type of rock known as Queenston shale. The Queenston Shale is the remnant of a large, muddy delta that was building into the shallow continental sea. It is reddish in colour because to the existence of hematite which is the main ore found in iron and was dominant within the mud in the
