British Literature Class Analysis

If someone were to ask me “Do you deserve an A in British Literature Honors?”, I would say yes, because I have demonstrated I understand the material and can use what I have learned. Despite being a transfer student being accepted a week before school dealing with summer assignments, making new friends, and learning the ropes of my new school, I still have managed to comprehend and use what I learn in this class. The reason we go to school and get good grades in classes is to educate ourselves and apply it in real life, and our grades are supposed to show others that we are capable and educated people. I feel that I am educated and capable in British Literature, and I deserve my grade to reflect that. I wholeheartedly believe that I deserve an A in this class. I’ve learned many different new literary devices and have tried to implement them into my everyday language. One of my favorite things I learned in this class was our study of satire and use of it in our project. Me and my group worked hard on our story, spending hours on it together to perfect one of my favorite types of comedy. I sought to understand exactly how satire is used and how it could be used to convey a point, such as in Jonathan Swift’s “A Modest Proposal”. …show more content…
Another example would be our analysis on poems such as “The Lamb” and “The Chimney Sweeper” by William Blake. After reviewing poems in class and doing them on my own, I began to see all the allusions, anecdotes, symbols, and other literary devices inside the poems. This english class has helped me visualize the what makes masterpieces a masterpiece, such as Beowulf and Hamlet. Classes are supposed to teach students about a subject, and I feel as if I understand and apply all that we have learned in our class, even though my grade doesn’t exactly reflect
