Brent Staples, a famous editorial writer for the New York Times and his memoir Parallel Time: Growing up in Black and White. His writings are always a high quality and persuasive essay. They are commonly about the social issue. One of that writing is the article “What Adolescents Miss When We Let Them Grow Up in Cyberspace". In this article, he writes about the technology, especially, cyberspace and the bad effect of it to the adolescents. In my opinion, although cyberspace has some benefit to our life, I totally agree with his augments about the disadvantages of the cyberspace.

I really love those good old days when there were no electronic devices, such as cell phones, tablets, and computers. Although it is simple, it not boring and it was an absolutely wonderful life. I and my friends did always have a really great time with many outdoor activities, such as, playing soccer, flying a kite and many traditional games. From the day we have a computer and now many smart divides, we lost that old days. We were so wrapped up in what is inside some 13 inch screen. We just stay at home, playing online game, searching Facebook or Twitter and living in the cyberspace. We lived! But it is not a reality life, just a virtual one. That is exactly what Brent Staples try to deliver to the audience of "What Adolescents Miss When We Let Them Grow Up in Cyberspace", “Net actually isolated younger socially connected people who are unwittingly allowing time online to replace face-to-face interaction with their families and friends". Nowadays, instead of spending time spent on real, social activities, teenagers spend so much time on the Internet. Although they can easily connect to the world by only using the double click, everything on the internet is just only a theory. It is not always real. Therefore, it cannot prepare them for adulthood because it will diminish social encounters of teenagers. They need a real a social experience that just only be achieved on the face to face interaction with the people on a real life. Not only that, heavy use of Internet affects emotions of the user as well. The people, who stay on the cyberspace to much, can feel frustrated, depressed, lonelier, etc., yet they still fall to Internet's
