Risks, Dangers of Breast Implants

Although the primary argument encircling breast implants is focused on cancer alone that is said to be caused by a leaking implant, there have also been quite a few reports that have linked breast implants to many other illnesses.

Numerous reports have been done on immune diseases, but they focus primarily on connective tissue disorders and have come up inconclusively due to their subjects having implants in for a relatively short time. It is a famous fact that various autoimmune diseases and connective tissue diseases take many years to develop to the point where they can accurately be diagnosed. While still inconclusive, their reports stated that the women who have been found to have leaking implants were more prone to get fibromyalgia. Besides, the stuffy also revealed that women with leaking silicone implants were more likely to have diseases like eosinophilic fasciitis, polymyositis, pulmonary fibrosis, Hashimoto's thyroiditis mixed connective-tissue disease, dermatomyositis, and polymyalgia.

Of the women who had been found to have these various diseases in relation to leaking silicone implants, 97% of them who had the implants removed saw a reduction in their symptoms. Silicon has also been proven to interact with one's immune system and cause symptoms that can be closely recognized with connective tissue disease.

In a study that was done in 2008 by the National Cancer Institute, it was concluded that women who had implants for a term longer than seven years had a 21% increased chance of contracting reparatory, brain, cervical as well as vulvar cancers. Despite all these studies that have been carried out, there is still no conclusive evidence linking disease and cancer to silicone breast implants and their possible
