This phenomenon that has occurred in Brazil is a great example of these interactions. Telenovelas has become a way of not feeling isolated from one another. Many Brazilian people move around the country from their initial birth place, so when they move everything changes, but these telenovelas don’t. This is a way for the people to be able to be connected to others. It becomes the topic of conversations and a way of felling like they belong. Telenovelas have now become such a huge part of the Brazilian culture. We see this through the comparison of how many people own a TV instead of a book because they are used to oral traditions, and the fact that even people with low incomes are willing to spend their money on a TV. Lastly, we are able to see that these telenovelas also help people stay connect with the news through Telenovelas. Since there are restrictions on TV, the produces have found a way to where they can keep up to date with the news and incorporate it into the telenovela. In the 1950’s and 1960’s the television became a huge success in America. People now owned a TV and spend many hours watching TV. Some people even accommodated their daily life, so they could watch TV. During this time period America still faced a struggle against racism, segregations and inequality. Some of these TV shows, such as I Love Lucy where able to incorporate the problems in TV to make a change. During this time, it wasn’t a normal thing and actually frown upon if a women tried to enter the work force. However, this TV show was able to break that norm, by showing a woman who didn’t follow the traditional roles of staying at home while the husband worked. Additionally, minorities during this time period weren’t treated the same as whites, but the show breaks this norm by showing an interracial couple who shows equality. Lastly, the show also reinforces values that American already had such as those of sexuality. During this time period sexuality was a touchy subject that no one wanted to talk about. That is way on the show they reinforce this. They went as far as showing two separate beds to show that they couldn’t not be shown together because nothing was really going on there. I love Lucy isn’t the only TV show that attacks problems such as these shows such as I Spy, God Times, and The Mary Tyler Moore Show are all examples of TV shows that strived and changed the American ideals of the mid
