Book Report: A Long Walk To Water

“A Long Walk To Water,” a book about two kids who have obstacles to overcome. This amazing novel was written by the Newbery Medalist, Linda Sue Park. Who also wrote,” One Single Shard and Seesaw Girl.” Linda Sue Park writes realistic fiction. This story is about Salva Dut, a boy who is part of the dinka and separated from his family at a young age, due to war. And about Naya, a girl who is part of the nuer tribe, and has to walk eight hours a day to get water for her family, that isn’t even clean.
Nya is a little girl with a big tasc. She has to walk eight hours a day just to get something as simple as water. All of us are lucky, water is the most important source of survival that most people in America have, we can drive to the store to buy water or get it from the tap. In Africa it is much different, their water is muddy and dirty that makes them sick. Nya has to walk eight hours a day just to get water that is bad for her and her family. On page one it even says that,”It would take half her morning if she didn’t stop on the way.” For five months out of the year Nya lives near a lake. One day she saw people in her village trying to find water.
