The book of Esther is about a woman named Esther who went before the king. Even though she could have been killed so that the king would help her people, the Jews. The king Xerxes had summoned his queen Vashti, but she refused to see him, which was against the law so she was never to be in the presence of Xerxes again. So later the king gathered all of the virgins in the kingdom to be given beauty treatments so that the one who most pleases the king become the new queen. He chose Esther, who was told by Mordecai not to tell them she was a Jew. She was then given special treatments and food and seven female servants and sent to the best place in the harem. During a banquet Mordecai discovered a plot to assassinate the king and he told Esther, who then told the king and …show more content…
But Mordecai would not bow down to the king and Haman found out that it was because he was a Jew and then he plotted to kill all of the Jews because he was jealous of Mordecai. Then on the 12th year of king Xerxes Lot was cast in front of the king and Haman said that he was a Jew and that his customs were different than theirs and they don’t obey the kings laws. So then Haman asked if there would be a decree issued to destroy them and the king accepted it. Then afterword’s Mordecai learned of the decree and he asked Esther to plead for the king to stop it. So on the third day Esther went to the king and invited him and Haman to a banquet and he accepted. Then that night the king could not sleep and he asked his servants to read him to book of Chronicles (the record of his reign) to be read to him, and that morning they read about how Mordecai uncovered the plot to assassinate him and he asked what has been done for him and they said, nothing then he asked who was in the court and they said Haman (who was about to ask him if he can kill Mordecai). The king asked Haman what should be done to him and Haman said (thinking he was talking about him)
