Did you know that there has never been a United States president that has been born an only child? Did you know that the first 21 of 23 astronauts in space have been firstborns in their families and the other 2 astronauts were only children? This occurs because of birth order. Birth order refers to the order one is born in their family. Although researchers at Ohio State University believe that birth order doesn’t influence people, I hold the belief that it does. Depending on the order of which a person was born, birth order can influence one’s character traits, health, and career.

Middle children get less attention than the oldest and youngest children. Middle children are friendly and are good in groups Parents usually don’t give out as much attention to the middle kid as they do to the oldest child and youngest children.
Because parents pay more attention to their other children, middle children are always running along with the first born child.
Middle children are always trying to attempt to do things that the oldest child hasn’t done to prove their worth. Middle children do have an advantage though because they are able to learn from their older sibling and take care of their younger sibling. ABC states, “They seek attention and often have more friends than the firstborn children to compensate for a lack of family attention.”
